Lansinoh® Cesarean Section Hydrogel Pads are specially formulated to help mothers protect and soothe their healing Cesarean scar after being discharged from the hospital. They can be used from 10 days postpartum, or once the stitches or staples have been removed and the wound has closed but continues to itch, hurt, and feel uncomfortable. Lansinoh® Cesarean Section Hydrogel Pads provide immediate, cooling relief to itchy, healing skin. Many other Cesarean section products on the market are made of silicone. Therefore, they have a different function and are used at different stages. Silicone patches are primarily designed for the cosmetic management of scars (including scar correction, reducing redness and scar discomfort, and improving the appearance and feel of scars). Furthermore, they are only recommended for use later after delivery, once the wound has healed. Furthermore, hydrogel and silicone dressings are based on different technologies: Both silicone and hydrogel dressings seal the area around the healing wound, forming a protective layer over the skin's surface and preventing moisture from escaping. While silicone forms a passive barrier, the unique polymeric structure of hydrogel allows water to be released and absorbed, thus balancing the moisture content. The high water content of hydrogel also means that the pads provide cooling relief in the application area. For an especially cooling effect, the Lansinoh® Cesarean Section Hydrogel Pads can be placed unopened in the refrigerator before use.

Lansinoh® C-section hydrogel pads can remain on the scar for up to 72 hours, even if a scab has formed. Because the hydrogel pads are transparent, the scar can be inspected during use. Lansinoh® C-section hydrogel pads can also be used while breastfeeding and on keloid and hypertrophic scars. They are self-adhesive and water-resistant, so they can be worn while showering, perspiring, and during everyday activities such as postpartum exercises. However, they should not be worn while bathing. Lansinoh® C-section hydrogel pads can be used for as long as the user deems necessary. Shaving the area before application is not required but can be done if desired. Lansinoh® C-section hydrogel pads are a medical device and do not contain latex or fragrances.

Application and removal:

Ensure the area around the scar is clean and dry before applying Lansinoh® Cesarean Section Hydrogel Pads. Open the wrapper and remove one hydrogel pad. Peel back the protective film on the side marked (1). Carefully place the gel side of the pad directly onto the Cesarean section scar. Gently massage from the center outwards to secure it. Remove the protective film on the side marked (2). Note: For an extra cooling effect, place the unopened pads in the refrigerator before use. To remove, hold the pad in the center and gently pull the edge outwards to release the adhesive. Continue pulling the edge outwards (not upwards) and peel the pad off in the direction of hair growth. Shaving the area before application is not necessary but can be done if desired.
